Whether we realise it or not, as individuals, each of us has our own design style. Generally your design style will fall within a certain category, but even within each broad category our tastes and styles are unique.
When choosing window coverings such as blinds and curtains, your design style will play a role.
What is your design style?
A Design Style Quiz
If you are not sure what your design style might be classified as, there are a few simple and fun quizzes out there in cyberspace that you can take to find out. Generally they only take a couple of minutes to complete, and the results could prove interesting. Just do a search for one.
The Modern Minimalist
Executive office spaces tend to favour this popular and modern design style. Homes in recent times are adopting the modern minimalist style as well, keeping things simple, but chic. The contrast in this style is there is either virtually no colour, or extremely vivid colours. Opposite ends of the spectrum. Designs lack detail and are usually round, square or rectangle in shape. This design is meant to look clean and be easy to keep clean.
The Retro Look
Having made quite a serious comeback in recent years, the retro style is a design style that never seems to want to go out of style. We all have noticed the retro look returning in some clothing ranges, kitchen appliances, and even in home design and interior decorating. There’s no such thing as conservative when it comes to the retro look. Anything goes, and that can include rather garish colour schemes. Thankfully, these days the retro theme is done a little more tastefully than it was back in the 60s and 70s.
The Classic Look
This style dates as far back as the ancient Greek and Roman days. Obviously it has evolved over time, but still reflects a very European influence. It is an Art Deco style with pieces rich in detail. Many household items are hand-crafted in exquisite designs. Floral tends to play a big role in the classic look.
Modern Contemporary Design Style
This design style is quite similar to modern minimalistic, except the lines tend to be more straight rather than using circles. This particular style has way less chance of looking dated than some other design styles. Earthy colours play a huge role, with wood and leather widely used.
The Rustic Look
Rustic is anything but sleek and smooth with straight lines. Rustic is more natural looking, often utilising timber and stone and other natural resources. Sometimes rustic themes can be quite dark, as they involve many earthy colours and materials. It is a classic look in its own unique way, and one that is always popular within certain sectors of the community.
